Should You Run a LinkedIn Audio Event or Create a Podcast?

Testing one of the newest Linkedin features got us thinking about other new shiny marketing strategies. This is what you should consider first.

It was booked in for 6am.
I accepted the speaking opportunity for two reasons
1) It was my first ever invite to a Linkedin Audio Event
2) I would not have to get dressed
I had heard some buzz about Linkedin trying to becoming clubhouse, but it wasn't until I spoke at the event, I realised how good it was.
To my surprise, I really enjoyed it.

I loved the fact I could share my thoughts without having to look good for camera.

I also loved the data Linkedin provided after the audio event:
  • Name
  • Job title
  • Who actually attended
Very much run like a podcast/webinar.

Then I started thinking,

Should we run a Linkedin audio event for CMOs weekly?

Should we run an audio event for Sales teams to help improve sales communication & follow up message strategy?

I am sure you have had similar thoughts, when you think of a new marketing opportunity.

But before committing to the next shiny marketing strategy, I decided to focus my effort on answering these questions:

  • What problem is your product designed to alleviate?
  • Who are you best customers?

Here is a full set of questions that you should be answering, before spending a dime on a new marketing pipeline ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿป ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿป ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿป

Email 9 Template New

I will be filling out the above template over Easter weekend for my business, and also requesting all our clients to do the same in the coming weeks.

After filling it out, I intend to share my thoughts with my team, and get feedback, and their thoughts so we can decide whether we should

  1. Run a weekly Linkedin audio event
  2. Run a weekly CMO round table promoted using Linkedin paid ads
  3. Continue our weekly newsletters
  4. Launch a new podcast

Speaking of podcast, I have just launched my podcast 'Innovative Minds" which I have been working on for the past 4 months!
I just dropped my first episode today! Ironically my first episode was with Tommy Jackett who helped me set up my podcast, and we explored the question on โ€œWhy podcasts should be part of your marketing strategyโ€.
Tommy has done 1000's of podcast episodes and gave away loads of valuable info around equipment/tools to purchase for those looking to start a podcast, which are included in the podcast description.
Podcast Episode 1
Check out the episode here if you're interested in starting your own podcast.

I'll be talking more about podcasts in my next blog.
In the meantime, I do hope you take the time to complete that template [or even just ponder the questions] so you can decide where to put your content marketing efforts.

If you do take the time to complete the template and want to discuss it with me, I'd be happy to take a look. I love having meaningful discussions on strategy.
Enjoy your well deserved long weekend. ๐Ÿ‡
